Early-Stage Developments

New South Wales, AUS
In addition to our Silver City development, Hydrostor is engaged in early-stage development activities. We are working with local stakeholders in Wellington, NSW, to advance a 500 MW / 16-hour energy storage facility that will help NSW meet its legislated energy storage targets, which explicitly include long-duration energy storage.

South Australia, AUS
Hydrostor is seeking to develop a 500 MW A-CAES facility in South Australia’s Cultana/Whyalla region. We are working closely with the SA government to advance a project that will assist the state in meeting its reliability standards and deliver much needed long duration energy storage.

Victoria, AUS
Hydrostor is exploring two 500 MW early-stage development opportunities in western and south-west Victoria, in response Victoria’s 95 percent renewable energy target by 2035. Long duration energy storage will provide high levels of grid reliability in a variable renewables energy system.

Arizona, USA
Hydrostor is advancing development opportunities in Arizona’s Maricopa County for a 500 MW long-duration energy storage facility that can respond to Arizona’s reliability needs and projected demand growth.

California, USA
California has identified the need for significant long duration energy storage (8+ hours) in their integrated resource plan modelling. Hydrostor is exploring an opportunity to develop a 500 MW facility in Southern California that will interconnect into the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) grid as part of the Cluster 15 process. The Chronos Energy Storage Center Project is expected to connect via the Lugo Substation in San Bernardino County.
Hydrostor also has an active queue position with LADWP that is currently contemplated to be used for an additional project in Kern County, if approved.

New York, USA
Hydrostor is engaged in early-stage development activities, working with local officials and stakeholders, in New York’s Lewis County. We are working to advance a 500 MW energy storage facility in order to participate in NYSERDA’s long-duration procurement to help New York meet its long duration energy storage targets.

Nevada, USA
Hydrostor is in the early stages of exploring commercial pathways for the development of a 500 MW long duration energy storage A-CAES project in Nevada. We are executing on early-stage development activities, including geological assessments, to be able to respond to opportunities in Nevada and surrounding states.

United Kingdom
Hydrostor is exploring the development of a 500 MW energy storage centre targeting Window 2 of the British government’s LDES Cap & Floor procurement pathway. Hydrostor has advanced early development activities, including submitting interconnection applications, while awaiting further details from Government on an anticipated Window 2 in early 2026.
The World’s First Commercially Contracted A-CAES Facility
The Goderich Energy Storage Centre proves that Hydrostor’s technology is capable of fully participating in electricity markets while delivering a range of valuable grid services. Learn more about this precedent-setting facility.
